Why you like it
When it comes to restaurant, the Lao Sichuan restaurant is probably the one that I would like to talk about the most. (When it comes to eating, I immediately associate the Lao Sichuan restaurant. I often have lunch there with my friends)
It ’s close to our school, starting from the teaching building only need 15 minutes. Although it covers an area of small and the decoration is also not luxurious, it always gives a person a kind of comfortable and clean feeling
The Lao Sichuan is well known for Saliva Chicken and steamed fish. Every time when we visit there, we must order those dishes
I always enjoy a visit the Lao Sichuan for a number of reasons.
Firstly , the food is of a good quality and well prepared. For example, they prepare only fresh fish, which they purchase at the fish market.
Secondly , the servers are always friendly, polite, and helpful. What I mean to say is that they will advise you on any specials on offer, and they tend to any need you may have swiftly and efficiently.
Thirdly , the restaurant is always spotlessly clean. Therefore, I never feel embarrassed to
invite my family, friends, or foreigners to join me there for a meal.
Lastly , it is situated conveniently near our university. It means that I am able to take my girlfriend there after dark, without fearing that we will be in danger on our way there and back.
例:Describe a restaurant
The best restaurant here, in my opinion, is in a big shopping center which is situated in the one of the busiest areas in Guangzhou. It’s called Pizza hut. I doubt if Pizza hut can be called a good restaurant in the Western world. But here in China, it can really outshine many other restaurants.
Pizza hut has a widely varied menu, from pizza to pasta ['pɑ:stə], from bread to rice, and my favorite, appetizers ['æpitaiz ə]. I think the food there can please so many different mouths. Pizza can be one of those well-balanced meals with a great number of ingredients
[in'gri:diənt] in it. But funny enough, many people in China still consider pizza to be unhealthy.
Experience sometimes is as important as the taste of food. I like Pizza hut because of its friendly atmosphere which can encourage return customers. In addition, Pizza hut has the best interior [in'tiəri ə] design of its kind giving the diners upscale ['ʌpskeil] dining experience. We have a curious ['kjuəri əs] situation in Pizza hut that people tend to talk in a low voice and that fits me just well.
例:Describe the ideal house that you would like to live in
My ideal house is one located in the countryside, and it would be just like an average house, nothing too fancy ['fænsi]. I want to live close to the nature coz I can enjoy fresh air and feel relaxed in that environment. It would be a two-storey ['stɔ:ri] house built along a smooth blue lake, sometimes with gentle waves. Inside, there are a couple of cozy ['kəuzi] bedrooms, a bright living room, a well-furnished ['fə:niʃt] kitchen, and some bathrooms. I will equip [i'kwip] the kitchen with a lot of modern appliances [ə'plai əns], such as a fridge [fridʒ], a dishwasher ['diʃ,w ɔʃə] and a microwave. In the living room, there are some armchairs ['ɑ:mtʃe ə], a sofa, a table and something like that. And TV is a must in the living room. Then the bedrooms are furnished ['fə:niʃ] with beds, desks and stereo ['stiəri əu] system. So, it is the one have been dreaming of.
例:Describe a hotel you visited (you once lived in) or have seen.
You should say:
Where it was
What the name of the hotel was
What the hotel looked like
When it comes to hotel, the XieCheng flower hotel is probably the one that I would like to talk about the most. It is a not famous hotel which only has 2 floors and Less than 100 rooms, located in the center of Xi’an ’s business district.
Although it covers an area of small and the decoration is also not luxurious [lʌk'zju əri əs], it always gives a person a kind of comfortable and clean feeling ['fi:liŋ]. The hotel was constructed by concrete [kən'kri:t] and steels [sti:l], covered by glass outside. In front of the building, there is a big flower bed. In general, it looks really classical ['klæsik əl], just like a beautiful garden.
Inside of the hotel, it features a folk cuisine [kwi'zi:n] restaurant and has modern conferences and meetings facilities. All rooms and suites are equipped with AC, cable TV, internet access, telephone, and almost everything you need. What impressed me most is its wall painting. Almost everywhere, including all rooms and suites, halls and stair corners, decorat ing with distinctive [dis'tiŋktiv] abstract ['æbstrækt] paintings, which give people a kind of contemporary [kən'temp ər əri] mystery ['mistəri].
So far as I know, the china world hotel is the most luxurious hotel I have ever seen in BJ. It is an international 5 star hotel which has 21 floors and more than 700 rooms, located in the center of Beijing's business district ['distrikt]. It is used to welcome distinguished [dis'tiŋɡwi ʃt] business and government leaders as well as travelers visiting the capital of China. The hotel was constructed by concrete and steels, covered by glass outside. It looks really magnificent [mæɡ'nifis ənt]. (Grand, splendid)
Inside of the hotel, it features modern Euro ['jʊər əʊ] cuisine restaurants and has the largest conferences and meetings facilities in Beijing. All rooms and suites are equipped with AC, cable TV, internet access, telephone, and almost everything you need.
What impressed me most are its comprehensive [,kɔmpri'hensiv] sports facilities. It has got a big indoor swimming pool, a hi-tech fitness center and two simulative [si'mjuleitiv] golf-courses which provide good recreations [rekri'eiʃ(ə)n] and entertainment for the guests
[gest].
Now, the hotel has already become a landmark ['lændm ɑ:k] building in BJ, and provides excellent ['eksəl ənt] services to people all over the world. I hope one day I can have lunch in it.
例:Describe a river in your hometown
you should say:
where it is
what it looks like
what do people often do there
and explain why you like this river.
When it comes to a river in my hometown, what worth mentioning is the MoYangJiang River. The river originates [ə'rid ʒəneit] from YunFu and flows across YangChun and northern part of YangJiang into the south China sea, which is considered the largest runoff ['rʌn ɔf, -ɔ:f] coefficient [,kəui'fi ʃənt] rivers (径流系数)of Guangdong province.
It is pretty ['priti] deep, and sometimes as peaceful as a mirror ['mirə], flowing gently ['dʒentli], but sometimes rather torrential [tɔ'ren ʃəl]. The water was as clear as crystal ['kristl] in my early memories ['meməri], and the surroundings [sə'raundiŋz] was quite nice, air was fresh, dwellers ['dwelə(r)] would take a stroll [strəul] after meals, young couple often rambled ['ræmbl] under the setting ['setiŋ] sun, kids running ,birds singing and flying here and there. I love the power of nature and the friendly atmosphere ['ætm ə,sfi ə] that people create [kri'eit]. I once went there to join a picnic ['piknik] when I was a junior ['dʒu:njə] student, my classmates and I got totally intoxicated [in'tɔksikeit]. Sadly, it is reported that the water quality has gone worse in recent years due to human activities [æk'tiviti] and industrial [in'dʌstri əl] development. It is a shame that our beloved river is losing its unique [ju:'ni:k] beauty and tranquility træŋ'kwil əti]. By no means should people go fishing and swimming there, or even litter ['litə] around regardless [ri'gɑ:dlis] of the law and responsibility for the environment [in'vaiər ənm ənt]. I truly believe that the water quality of Mo YangJiang River will become better if taken good care of. It is high time we have a sense of awakening [ə'weik əniŋ] and be a responsible individual, as well as treasure ['treʒə] everything nature dedicates to humanity.
例:Describe a place with water resources [ri'zɔ:siz]
Well, Guangzhou city is located in the Pearl [pə:l] River Delta so it has many rivers running through it. The most famous is, of course, the Pearl River. It has been used for hundreds of years for transporting ['trænsp ɔ:tiŋ] and trading of goods. There are many other smaller waterways which can also be used for commerce and other things like fish farming, agriculture ['æɡrik ʌlt ʃə] etc.
For me the Pearl River is a place to visit in the evening when the lights of the buildings are turned on and make it a very beautiful scene [si:n]. It’s very popular for tourists ['tuərist] to have dinner by the river and for couples to take romantic walks. There are also several boats that take tour [tuə] groups up and down the river. You can eat dinner aboard [ə'b ɔ:d] and take a night cruise [kru:z]. I’m not sure how clean the water is but I see many old men fishing in the river so I guess it is fine. I also see people flying kites and enjoying the cool breeze [bri:z] and the shade of the willow ['wiləu] trees. It’s one of my favorite areas ['ɛəri əs] in Guangzhou and I often go there with my friends.
例:Describe a park (in your city/in your country/you’d like to visit, you have been to) The first park that came into my mind is the park along the Pearl River side but I can’t recall
the actual name of the park. It’s not spectacular [spek'tækjul ə] but it sure can afford views of the Pearl River which has been used for hundreds of years for transporting and trading of goods. This little park can offer escapes [is'keip] from the city and opportunities for people of all incomes to relax, play and socialize ['səu ʃəlaiz].
The gateway ['geitwei] of the park looks so much like a small garden which accommodates
[ə'k ɔm ədeit] a variety [və'rai əti] of trees and flowers. I am not able to tell their names, I can really appreciate their beauty though.
I guess most people go to park in the daytime for quiet reflection when there are fewer people. I saw [sɔ:] some people flying kites and enjoying the cool breeze and the shade of the trees during the day. But this park is definitely ['definitli] a place to visit in the evening when the lights of the park are turned on and make it another very beautiful scene. From the park you can see people having dinner and couples taking romantic walk by the river.
例:Describe a garden (in your city/in your country/you’d like to visit, you have been to)
You know China has more people than land so there are not many gardens here. The only garden I have noticed before is a garden built as the gateway of a small park by the Pearl River side. The garden accommodates a variety of trees and flowers. I am not able to tell their names, I can really appreciate their beauty though. I guess most people go to gardens in the daytime for quiet reflection. I saw people flying kites and enjoying the cool breeze and the shade of the trees in the garden during the day.
There are some tables and chairs set by the coffee shop nearby in the garden. So people can enjoy sweet [swi:t] scents [sent] and blossoms ['blɔs əm] over a cup of coffee. The little garden serves [sə:v] as an escape from the city and it provides a limited but wonderful place for people to relax, play and socialize. Because the garden is just beside the Pearl River, you can see people having dinner and couples taking romantic walk in the evening. Also the boats that provide dinner and night cruise to tourists sail [seil] up and down the river. The view is fantastic [fæn'tæstik].
例:Describe an interesting building
Describe a shopping center/leisure center/coffee shop
Describe a leisure area you like to go to// a place you often go to have fun
The most interesting building, I’ve been to, is the one called Teem [ti:m] mall in Guangzhou which contains several shopping centers. It is situated ['sitjueitid] in one of the busiest areas in Guangzhou. Although there are other shopping malls around, I think Teem mall outshines all of them.
First of all, Teem mall is compact, I mean it is not huge [hju:dʒ] but it has everything you
need from fashion boutiques [bu:'ti:k] to book stores, from supermarket to department store, from restaurants to coffee shops, from video game center to Movie Theater ['θiət ə(r)], which is the main reason why I often go there.
Second, the quality is generally guaranteed [,gær ən'ti:d] in a place like Teem mall [mɔ:l]. It’s not a bargain ['bɑ:ɡin] -friendly shopping paradise ['pær ədaiz], but you get what you pay for. The only downside of Teem mall is that on weekends it has way too many people so that it can sometimes be packed as a bus. So I just go for a casual ['kæʒju əl] stroll at times or sit down with my friends in the coffee shop. Well you have more than one choice for coffee shop there; it’s still difficult to find a table in the rush hour though.
例:Describe natural scenery ['si:nəri]
I once visited a national park in XXX. The park was like a paradise so we decided to stay there for two or three days. The second day was very hot so we went to have a short trip to the mountain because usually the temperature in mountain is much friendlier. The mountain is equipped with a pristine ['pristi:n] bushland ['buʃlænd]. Actually the whole region is very densely ['densli] forested ['fɔr əstid]. When we snaked [sneik] around the mountain we went pass a few streams [stri:m] and waterfalls ['wɔ:təf ɔ:l]. We stopped beside one relatively
['relətivli] large waterfall for a short break [breik]. The waterfall cascaded [kæs'keid] about ten feet and into a shallow ['ʃæl əu] pool. The water was crystal clear so we took off our shoes and stepped into the pool in order to get closer to the waterfall. When I stood beside the waterfall I could feel that I was surrounded by tiny ['taini] water drops and I was completely cooled down. I felt so comfortable that I didn ’t even want to go any further. I think sometimes a less breathtaking scenery can also be very impressive [im'presiv].
例:Describe a museum [mju:'ziəm]
Well I don’t usually go to museums. Although many people believe that museum is an ideal
[ai'diəl] place for learning, I find them boring most of the time. The only museum I can still remember is the one in Guangzhou. I guess they call it Guangdong Science Museum. All museums serve to popularize ['pɔpjul əraiz] some knowledge to public and support education in schools. The Guangdong Science Museum, in my opinion, does a good job because it provides an enjoyable environment through presenting quality exhibitions [,eksi'biʃən] and fun science programs. In contrast ['kɔntræst] to traditional [trə'di ʃən əl] museums, this museum encourages visitors to put their hands on, eyes on, ears on and minds on the exhibits. I reckon ['rekən] nearly 70 percent of the exhibitions are all interactive [,intər'æktiv] and suitable for visitors of all ages. I don’t quite remember but I’m pretty much sure that there over 500 exhibits in the four-storey museum.
The most prominent ['prɔmin ənt] one that left me a very deep impression is a huge energy
['enəd ʒi] machine. When activated ['æktiveitid], the machine will trigger ['triɡə] a series of fascinating ['fæsineitiŋ] and spectacular visual ['vizjuəl] and audio effects [i'fekt].
关于big place

例:Describe an important historical place. You should say:
What it is.
Where it is.
Why it is important. If I had to describe an important historic place, I would choose Yuexiu Park in the city of Guangzhou. I am not sure if you have heard of it before. It consists of vast[vɑ:st] gardens and lakes, and it also houses the tomb[tu:m] of an emperor['empər ə] from the South Yue Dynasty [''dainəsti]. That is to say, it is not just an historical[his'tɔrik əl] site, but also a beautiful and peaceful place, and always-worthwhile visiting.
It is situated in the north of the city, and can be reached easily from the city center as well as from the university. For example, there is a bus stop in front of the main entrance to the Park.
There are several reasons as for why I would like to talk about Yuexiu Park as an historic
[his'tɔrik] place. Allow me to explain by mentioning some of them briefly. First of all, I believe history is important to any family, city, or nation. In other words, we should know where we come from. What I mean to say, is that Yuexiu Park houses many historical buildings like the tomb of an emperor from the South Yue Dynasty [''dainəsti] that remind us of where our roots are. Secondly ,historic places are a useful tool in the education of our children. For instance, we can take them to visit the Park and explain to them what it consists of. They are then able to experience the place first hand which will make a lasting impression on them. I believe this is much better than taking them to some boring museum. So, those were some thoughts on one of my favorite historic places.
Well, temples ['templ] are usually symbols ['simbəl] of long histories and rich cultures. It’s hard to calculate ['kælkjuleit] exactly the number of temples in China. There is one little temple in my city. I’d say it’s a Buddhist ['budist] temple because there are some monks [mʌŋk] working in the temple. You know, China has many different religions [ri'lidʒən], sometimes a temple can be Taoist ['tauist].
Normally a Buddhist temple has a bell tower and a drum [drʌm] tower at both sides of the entrance. And there are four heavenly kings too. But that temple is too humble ['hʌmbl] to have those things. People often relate temples and monks to traditional Chinese Kungfu, but in fact only a small proportion [prəu'p ɔ:ʃən] of monks know Kungfu and they’re not in the temple we are talking about. Basically, the temple doesn’t have much to explore. Nevertheless, there are visitors every now and then so I reckon there are something worth seeing about the temple apart from the potbellied ['pɔt,belid] Buddha ['budə] statue ['stætju]
and the run-down building. It ’s a shame I don ’t know too much about the temple ’s background so I can’t give an intriguing [in'tri:giŋ] story today. 例:describe a place//a city you like to visit
There are many beautiful cities in China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hangzhou and so on, I have been to many of them before, but Beijing is the only city I'd like to talk about for tons of times without feeling bored.
Beijing, the capital of the People’s Republic of China, is the country’s political [pə'litik əl], economic and cultural center. Beijing is located in the northern part of the North China Plain
[plein], surrounded [sə'raund] by mountains on the north, east and west. It covers an area of 16,800 square kilometers. Beijing blends [blend] the traditional outlook and the spectacular view of the modern metropolis [mi'trɔp əlis]. The architecture ['ɑ:kitektʃə] of the Imperial
[im'piəri əl]Palaces ['pælis] of the Ming and Qing dynasties has been well preserved. There are so many historic places such as the Forbidden City, the Temple of heaven ['hevən], the Temple of Earth and the Summer Palace.
In a word, Beijing is not only the modern political, cultural and educational center of China, but holds the biggest collection of ancient sites and relics ['rɛliks] in the nation. Therefore, Beijing is really a great place for travelling
例:Describe a noisy place
Well, in this society, when people are hustling ['hʌsliŋ] and bustling ['bʌsliŋ] here and there, it is rather difficult to find a very quiet place to enjoy ourselves. And around the places such as an airport, a bus station, a construction site, the noise is sometimes even unbearable. Unluckily, my home is just beside one, the construction site for one metro['metrəu] exit in Guangzhou. You know, since the April last year, the city government launched[lɔ:ntʃ] this great project to build the metro system in GZ. You know, it is a project that is allowed by the government to do even at night, so from then on, we have been suffering from the noise day and night.
At the first stage, the original [ə'rid ʒən əl] buildings on the site were pulled down and the ground was dug deep, which produced the shocking noise, even sometimes made us feel like a small earthquake outside. You know the knocking on the original concrete, the separating of the steel, the clearing of the land, the running of the construction trucks, wow, just too much noise.
And later, the cutting of the iron['aiən] and steel, the stirring['stə:riŋ] of the concrete, the running of the machines, the moving of those construction material, all aggravate['ægr əveit] the noise around us. Life is not just a nightmare['naitmεə] for us, since it is so hard to fall asleep every night.
But it seems that all of us living around are now trying to bear this. We all hope that the project can finish soon, so that we could not only enjoy our quietness, have a good sleep, but also take advantage of the convenience brought by the metro system, not to say smile at the increase of the price of our real estates[i'steit] along with it.
