1. Why do you choose this/such a topic/theme? (研究的缘由)
What are your reasons to choose this topic/theme?
Firstly, senior students meet problems in English writing which is a basic skill in English. Or in other words, the current situation of senior high students’ English writing is far from satisfactory. Being an English teacher of senior high school, the author is eager to find an efficient method to solve the unsatisfactory situation.
Next, the previous studies at home and abroad have proved that lexical chunk approach is an effective and successful way to teach writing for both native and nonnative speakers. However, few empirical studies on senior high students have been conducted at home. Inspired by the previous studies, the author hopes to prove the validity and feasibility of the lexical chunk approach in senior high school, and to probe an effective way to improve the students’ English writing competence.
2. What is the Significance of the Research?(研究的意义)
What is the pedagogical implication of the study
First, in the perspective of theory, it helps to use educational theories to improve and enhance English writing teaching and learning in senior high schools.
Next, in the perspective of practice, it helps the learners to gain efficient strategies for English writing, and overcome the obstacles they meet while composing, thus, to improve their English writing competence as well as raising their confidence and interest in English writing and English learning. Besides, it helps the teachers remove the traditional notion of the language (that English language is a pair of dichotomic separated constituents of grammar and vocabulary) and improve their teaching abilities.
3. What is the uniqueness of your point of view? 论文的创新之处
What is the innovation of your paper?
In this thesis, the author analyzed the current situation of senior high students’ English writing, summarized the problems in their writing, identified the problems and proposed a solution (the teaching of lexical chunks approach in class) to improve senior high school students’ English writing competence.
