1. Teaching material analysis:
A. Teaching role and the position:
This lesson is the first lesson of unit 7, so it’s very important to introduce the words about clothes and the sentences about asking about prices.
B. Teaching goals:
Knowledge goal:
1) Learn the words of clothes.
2) Use the sentence “How much„?” to ask about prices.
Ability goal: Improve the students’ ability of hearing, saying, reading, writing and self-study.
Emotion goal: Use polite words to buy and discuss the goods.
C. Teaching important points and difficult points:
1) New words: T-shirt, sweater,shirt,socks,pants,shorts„ The odd number and plural number. 2) How to ask about prices.
3) The words about colors.
2. Teaching method: Performance method, situation approach.
3. Learning method:
The feature of the students in Grade 7 is that they are curious but worried and shy. They are interested in English, but afraid of the mistakes. As a new subject, they hope to learn well and mind the appraisement of other persons. So I think it is very important to encourage them to think and solve the questions in the right way.
4. Teaching aids:
Objects, multimedia, dummy money
5. Teaching Procedures:
Step1: Lead-in
Revise colors. Revise sentences “what color is it? It’s„” Students hands up and answer. If he/she is right, he /she can get the dummy money.
Step2: Presentation
1. Show the pictures of clothes. Ask: “What’s this in English?/What’re these in English?” “What color is it?/ What color are they?” Students answer: “It’s„/They’re „” Read the words again and again. Teacher correct the pronunciation.
2. Then teach “How much is this hat? It's..../ How much are these shorts?”
Step3: Practice
1. Work in pairs, in rows, in groups, and Boys ask, Girls answer.
2. Listen: 1b on page 37.
Step4: Game
Buying things: Teacher sets up a store where has a lot of clothes. Students could use the money they earn before to buy the clothes they like. At the back of each clothes there is some money for awarding.
Step5: Conclusion
The group of the most money is winner. Teacher praises the winner and encourages other groups. Give students the checkpoints in the lesson.
Step6: Homework
Design a set of clothes and make a description of it
