Teenagers who don’t get up in the morning are brighter and more successful.
A study of students’ sleep by researchers in the USA found that teenagers who get up early are often tired and can’t concentrate in class.
“Young children love to get up early but teenagers have a different biological clock,” says a professor of Brown University. Her research showed that teenagers naturally go to sleep and wake up later than normal – for good biological reasons.
Now many American schools have changed that start of their morning classes from 7.30 to 8.30 or even 9.00.

People do get hurt in “adventure sports” and the most dangerous is climbing, which kills eight people a year. But it is not always obvious which activities are dangerous. Many more people die due to accidents in the home than from sports of any kind.

a: this style came out last year, though. I like the dress, but I’m not sure whether last year’s fashions will be same this year.
b: I think this kind of dress will stay in fashion for a few more years. People don’t change fashions every year. It would be too expensive.
a: yes. Only the top designer try to tell people to change fashion every year, but only rich people can do it.
b: there are some real fashion victims who just have to keep totally up-to-date with expensive clothes.
a: I wish I could be one of those people, but my budget simply doesn’t stretch that far. I have to limit the amount of money I spend on clothes otherwise I would go on a shopping frenzy.
B: I know what you mean. The situation will be worse if we marry our boyfriends and have children. The we’ll have even less money to spend on fashionable clothes!

I’d love to, but I’m afraid I have no time.
I’d very much like to, but I’ve already had plans for tonight.
I wish I could, but I’ve promised to show Tom around.
Drop over to our house for a visit sometime (有时间请到我们家来玩),We’ll have to get together sometime(我们什么时候聚一聚)等。 Yes, that would be nice(好啊)或 I’d love to(我会的),然后一笑置之。
Would you like some coffee(你要喝咖啡吗),We were wondering if you’d like to come to dinner(我们不知能否请你来吃晚餐),How about coming to the movies tonight(今晚去看电影怎么样)等。 Have a cup of tea(喝杯茶吧),Help yourself(随便吃吧),Try some of this cake(吃吃这块蛋糕)。
如Let’s go Dutch.(我们各付各的钱吧),The girl knew her boy friend had little money, so she offered to go Dutch(这姑娘知道她的男朋友没有什么钱,所以她主动提出各付各的钱)。 “请客”的英文表达常用treat,如 This is my treat(这次我请客),This time it’s my treat(这次我请客),OK, but next time the treat is on me (好吧,下次我请客)等。

Happy New Year, Happy birthday, Happy Easter Merry New Year, Merry Easter等。
3. 表示祝愿还有一种特殊情况,就是“祝酒”,如:Good health或Your health (祝你健康),Here’s to your job (祝你工作顺利),Here’s to your future (祝你前程无量),Here’s to you (敬你一杯)。

Congratulations on passing the exam.
Congratulations to you all.

I’m just very lucky

Would you like me to help you?
Can I help you with that?
What can I do for you?
What can I do to help?
Let me do it for you.
Is there anything I can do?
Shall I wrap it for you?

Want a hand?
Yes, please. 好的。
Great. 很好。
Yes, thanks.
That would be nice.
It’s very nice [kind] of you.
Oh yes, please. I’d be very grateful.
No, thank you.
No, thank you. I won’t.
Please don’t bother [trouble].
Not at the moment, thank you.
No, thanks. I can do it myself.
No, thanks. I’d rather not.
That’s very kind of you, but I can manage it myself.
I can do it myself. But thank you all the same.
[just] the same (当然不加也可以)。
Dialogue One 对话1
A: You seem to get lost. Need help?

A: Here’s my car. Let me give you a ride.
B: Oh, thanks. That’s very kind of you.
Dialogue Four 对话4
A: May I wait here?
B: Sure. Would you like to sit down?
A: Thank you.
B: He shall be back at any moment. Would you like something to drink?
A: No, thank you. Please don’t bother.
