1. W: What kind of fruit do you like to eat?
M: Bananas.

W: He is swimming.
3. W: Please don’t smoke here.
M: Sorry, I won’t do it again.
4. M: How did Mike go to Taiwan Island?
W: He went there by plane.
5. M: What are you going to do this evening, Betty?
W: I’m going to meet some friends, Dad.
M: You mustn’t come home late. You must be home at 10:00.
W: Come on, Dad. It’s Helen’s birthday. She has a party at home. Many friends will go. Please, Dad. Can I come back a little later?
M: OK. Remember to come back before 11:00.
6. M: Excuse me.
W: Yes?
M: Could you please tell me how to get to the bookshop?
W: The bookshop?
M: Yeah.
W: OK. Go along this road; take the second turning on your left. The bookshop is just in front of the cinema.
M: Should I take a bus?
W: No, it’s near here. You can go there on foot.
M: How long does it take to get there on foot?
W: Only seven or eight minutes.
M: Fine. I’ll walk there. Thanks a lot.
W: You’re welcome.
7. W: It’s 7:00. Dave, it’s getting terribly late. Are you sure you can’t walk? P89 M: Ouch! No, I’m sorry. I think I’ve broken my leg. It really hurts!
W: What are we going to do? I’m freezing cold, and it’s starting to rain. M: I’m really hungry. I haven’t eaten anything since 8:00 this morning. How long have you been on the mountain?
W: A long time! We’ve been here for three hours.
M: Can we make a fire? If we make a fire, maybe someone will see it.
W: You must be kidding. It is difficult to make a fire in such weather. Wait here. I’ll try to climb down the mountain and look for someone for help.
M: I’m not going anywhere!
8. W: Hello, People’s Cinema. Can I help you?
M: Hello, I’m phoning about tickets for this Saturday.
W: Which movie would you like to watch?
M: Have you got tickets for My Father’s Birthday?
W: Sorry. There aren’t any tickets left for it.
M: What about the Sound of Music?
W: Oh, yes. We have some tickets.
M: Oh, right. What time does the movie start?
W: It starts at eight o’clock in the evening.
M: OK. How much do the tickets cost?
W: They’re 50 dollars each.
M: 50 dollars? Can I phone back later? I’ll ask my mum.
W: Oh, that’s OK.
9. Learning English is boring, right? Wrong. It’s certainly not boring at Saturday Morning Movie Club! For three hours on a Saturday morning we watch movies, eat popcorn and drink soda, and then have a discussion about what we watch. So you might be wondering what have movies got to do with learning English? Well, we watch English movies! And it doesn’t matter what level of English you’re at. At the Saturday Morning Movie Club, we offer three levels of classes. Beginners watch in their language the first time. Then watch again in English. More advanced students watch in English. For only $20 a month, for four classes, you can improve your
English and have fun! Join the club now and get one class a month for free your first three months.
10. Attention, please.
Our teacher will take us to visit the Holiday Gallery this weekend. I hope everyone can take part in this activity.
We ’ll meet at 8:30 on Saturday at the school gate. Since we’re going to the gallery by bike, everyone should be careful on the way and we’ll begin to visit the gallery at 9:00. Once we’re inside the exhibition hall, don’t make any noise. Each group must take at least three photos. We’ll show them in our class meeting next Monday. Remember not to touch the paintings while we’re here. The gallery closes at 11:30. Then we shall go home. That’s all.
Thank you for listening.
