Business Duplication The ten-yuan account for a large number of paper notes in circulation. They have no difference in appearance, they feel the same when holding in hand, and they all worth ten cups of soya-bean milk in our canteen. It’s easy to
understand how the ten-yuan notes are copied or duplicated, you need only a template and a printing machine. Do you think it possible to create a business printing machine? To duplicate a store, a business?
We know in the case of chain stores, every one of one seems exactly like any other. So the answer is definitely yes. As a student majoring in marketing, I have learned some cases in business duplication. In order to achieve
desirable profits, attention should be paid to many aspects. Today I would like to focus on two important aspects, service and management, in the duplication of service industry.
Firstly, service. It contains two parts, hardware service, it mainly aims at the shop front environment and facilities, and software service, which mainly lies in employee services. For the hardware part, it asks for the same decoration of the storefront, the same uniform of the clerk, the same atmosphere of the environment and some others of this kind. They are fixed and easily
accomplished. But for the software part, it’s difficult to get the same carrying out. Human have moods and you can’t control. It’s hard to say whether it will affect their work much. How to reduce the uncertainty? For a manager, he should firstly make the correct service concept known to all. A pre-post training is necessary. Then it’s important to build sense of belonging of the staff. A good manager considers more for his staff and makes them feel happy and willing to work. When the store feels like a family for the clerks, they can make it feel like a family for the customers.
Secondly, management. It can be summarized into two points, standardize and systemize. It contains really a lot when moves into practice. All the rules have to be accurate and all the stores have to stick with them. But at the same time, it’s not just a simple duplication of standard and system, it also should be flexible. For example, a clerk left his post without permission and it caused some bad consequence. According to regulations, he should be
punished. But now you know that he left because he got a call that his family was injured in a car accident, he had to go to the hospital as soon as possible. Would you still adhere to punish him? You may get into a dilemma, the clearly regulations and human-based management, which one is more important? You must figure out a balance between the two. By managing, you win your staff or lose your staff. Thinking twice before making a decision is required. There exists an ideal condition of duplication in business, it’s called zero loss duplication. It means you got exactly the same duplicated stores. Their appearances are exactly the same, their carrying out are exactly the same and their commercial values are exactly the same. When you succeeded in
doing what I mentioned above, you may achieve this ideal. And only then can you expand your business scale with duplicating as a banknote printing machine.
