G :Do you remember the recommended movie, The Bucket List, by our English teacher a few days ago?
L: Sure, it is really impressive. You know, I watched that movie last week for a second time. How do you feel about this movie?
G: I am sort of crazy about the movie and I sorted out the ten wishes of Carter.
L: You are so great!
G: Thank you. Which one of the ten wishes do you like best?
L: Umm…I think my favorite one is the wish of “witnesses something truly majestic ”. For Carter, his “something truly majestic” is the M ount Everest. As for Edward, it is to reunite with his daughter.
G: Why do you like this the most?
L: I think it is because the two meanings embodied by the wish, which are close to my life. Firstly, I like hiking, especially around those fabulous places off the beaten track and with a long historic culture. And such places include the Mount Everest. I hope one day I can approach this majesty.
G: All right, and I think you need to build yourself up.
L: Thanks for your encouragement.
G: But it is hard for me to imagine whether you need to become reconciled with your six-month daughter or not. What is the matter? L: Oh come on, I didn’t mean that. I guess the purpose of the movie is to
recall people to get back to the family and affection between blood relations. For a long period of time, I think I didn’t need my family. Staying away from my parents, I would visit them once for a year. Besides, I insist on living on my own without getting married. It seemed that I did not have the abilities of loving and being loved until I met my husband. He changed me and helped me to learn the meanings of “love, forgiveness as well as support the others”. So I think I can understand Edward in the movie. That is also my personal experience.
L: How about you? What is your favorite wish?
G: Actually there is no favorite for me, but I was also moved by their needs for recognition and acceptance from family members and by their returning to each individual family finally. I think that is the ideal life. On the other hand, helping a stranger to fulfill his wish is another part that touches me deeply. It is a wish with great love inwardly, highlighting that both Edward and Carter hope to help the others by their own efforts and get rewarded by a sense of satisfaction and happiness.
G: I’ve got an idea. Why don’t we make our own “the bucket list”?
L: That would be awesome. I promise, if you’d like, I will also take you to the Mount Everest. Ju st kidding…Then let me start by my wishes. Um…Let me think…my first wish is to create my own business successfully. It will set up an economical foundation for me to achieve the other wishes. If without money, I can’t make the other things come
true. How about you?
G: My wish is on the basis of my ready economic base. Haha…If I were rich enough, I will go back to my hometown, build up a big house, take my beloved family members there and offer them a carefree life! L: Sounds great! I think my second wish is to learn how to swim. G :Why ?!
L: My husband always threatens me by saying that he will take my daughter to swim without me since I can’t. So, I must learn how to swim before my little girl grows up.
G: Oh, I see.. you are jealous of your daughter. Um…and my second wish is to travel around the world with my husband and daughter. Plus, we will drive to the places of interests of China on our own. That will be cool.
L: Yeah, it is cool. This will be my third wish, and can I join you at then? G: Absolutely. It is a deal!
