I Have A Dream
星期一Monday Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15,
1929 – April 4, 1968) was an American clergyman,
activist, and prominent leader in the African Ameri-
can civil rights movement. He is best known for be-
ing an iconic figure in the advancement of civil
rights in the United States and around the world, using nonviolent meth-ods following the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. King is often presented as a heroic leader in the history of modern American liberalism.
A Baptist minister, King became a civil rights activist early in his ca-reer. He led the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott and helped found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1957, serving as its first president. King's efforts led to the 1963 March on Washington, where King delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech. There, he expanded Ameri-can values to include the vision of a color blind society, and established his reputation as one of the greatest orators in American history.
In 1964, King became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to end racial segregation and racial discrimi-nation through civil disobedience and other nonviolent means. By the time of his death in 1968, he had refocused his efforts on ending poverty and stopping the Vietnam War.
King was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977 and Congressional Gold Medal in 2004; Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was established as a U.S. national holiday in 1986.
我有一个梦想 I Have A Dream(节选)
I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
3
经典演讲 I Have A Dream 星期一Monday I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slaveowners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be trans-formed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day the state of Alabama, whose governor's lips are presently dripping with the words of interposition and nullifica-tion, will be transformed into a situation where little black boys and
black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk together as sisters and brothers.
I have a dream today.
4
经典演讲 I Have A Dream 星期一Monday I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
This is our hope. This is the faith with which I return to the South. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.
This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with a new meaning, "My country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring."
And if America is to be a great nation this must become true. So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. Let free-dom ring from the mighty mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania!
Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado! Let freedom ring from the curvaceous peaks of California!
5
经典演讲 I Have A Dream 星期一Monday But not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia! Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee!
Let freedom ring from every hill and every molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring.
When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"

流行金曲Way Back Into Love 星期二Tuesday Music and Lyrics is a 2007 American
romantic comedy film written and directed by Marc
Lawrence. It focuses on the relationship that evolves
between a former pop music idol (of the fictional
band PoP! similar to Wham! and Duran Duran) and
an aspiring writer as they struggle to compose a song
for the reigning pop diva.
A washed up singer is given a couple days to
compose a chart-topping hit for an aspiring teen sen-
sation. Though he's never written a decent lyric in his
life, he sparks with an offbeat younger woman with a flair for words. Way Back Into Love is a pop song, written by Adam
Schlesinger, from the 2007 film Music and Lyrics. There are two ver-sions: a demo version sung by Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore and the final version sung by Hugh Grant and Haley Bennett. It was used as the love theme in the film, much of whose plot revolves around the writing and arranging of the song.

Nothing can take the place of persistence 星期三Wednesday
Crazy English
Crazy English is a brand name related to a
non-traditional method of learning English in
mainland China conceived by Li Yang. Li be-
lieves that the traditional way of learning English
in China is ineffective. Li Yang's method places
heavy emphasis on practicing English orally. His
method can be described with the quote "To shout out loud, you learn." Students practice his technique by going behind buildings or on rooftops and shouting English. They also go to his rallies and shout together; this helps them overcome their shyness (everybody is doing it, so nobody is embarrassed). In many ways it remains similar to the traditional pedagogic prac-tices of Chinese education in that it still relies on repetition and recitation. Members of the school administration in China often disapprove of the method because they believe it goes against the traditional Chinese values of modesty and restraint.
Nothing can take the place of persistence Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is al-most a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of edu-cated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are om-nipotent.
Perseverance does not always mean sticking to the same thing forever. It means giving full concentration and effort to whatever you are doing, right now! It means doing the tough

Nothing can take the place of persistence 星期三Wednesday things first and looking downstream for gratification and re-wards. It means making more calls, going more miles, pulling more weeds, getting up earlier in the day and always being on the lookout for a better way of doing what you’re doing. Per-sistence is success though trial and error.
