My View on the Postgraduate Craze
1. 目前考研形成热潮
2. 分析这股热潮产生原因
Every year, millions of college students sit in for the postgraduate entrance examination. An increasing number of students have regarded the pursuing of a master degree as indispensable part of their education. What is to account for their enthusiasm for a postgraduate diploma?
First, it is the demand of the knowledge. In the era of knowledge and information explosion, what you have learned in college can hardly meet the demand in society. Talents who are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills are needed more than ever before. That is why many students further their study.
Second, it is well-known that the more education you have, the more likely you are to succeed. Compared with those without a master degree, masters will enjoy more preferential treatment such as better salaries, more opportunities for promotion and training. A postgraduate degree can guarantee a more promising career.
Last but not the least, with the graduation of a large number of college students, competition for jobs becomes more and more fierce. One way to gain more advantage over others is to have a higher degree. Therefore, no wonder hundreds of millions of students consider pursuing a postgraduate degree as necessary.

Supermarkets
1. 超市越来越受欢迎
2. 超市中的假冒商品和扒窃行为等问题
3. 你的观点
Nowadays supermarkets are enjoying great popularity in both large and small cities. Thanks to supermarkets, we can pick up products ranging from small daily necessities to digital apparatuses
at one-stop shop. The convenience of supermarkets consists in the free choice of goods, good service and long business hour.
But this is not the whole story. Some of the large supermarkets receive complaints that they sell fake commodities and consumers ask for compensation. And shoplifting was found through the video surveillance, which exerts bad effects on supermarket business.
As far as I am concerned, supermarkets can always lure you into buying what you are not in need of. It seems necessary to remind consumers that supermarkets may save your time but not necessarily save your money.
Directions: for this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay entitled On Opportunity by commenting on the saying, “Chance favors the prepared mind.” You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.
On Opportunity
“Chance favors the prepared mind” Sadly, many people do not prepare for anything, but prefer to grab at opportunities as they drift by. This is, however, a passive attitude—life becomes something that happens to us, outside our control. The mentioned statement, however, describes “chance ” as a thing that is actually somewhat within our control. Surely we cannot manipulate which opportunities will come and when opportunities come. But it is certain that opportunities will pass us if we are not ready for them.
For instance, Vera, my Russian friend, studied teaching Russian as a foreign language. After graduation, she could only find a secretarial job, but she took evening class to continue studying. She finished both a Master ’s degree and a PhD. She worked to retain her English language proficiency and then started taking weekend classes in Chinese, just for fun.
One day her PhD program director called. A Beijing publishing company was looking for a Russian textbook editor. She never knew what she had been preparing for, but when the opportunity came, she was ready.
So let ’s use our time wisely, enriching our experience and acquiring new skills. Then when opportunity comes knocking, we will be ready to answer.
Directions: for this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay entitled On Perseverance by commenting on the saying, “Constant dripping wears away a stone” You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.
“Constant Dripping wears away a stone. ” This saying is a good summary of the power of perseverance in great achievements. Behind every great achievement in anyone's life lies perseverance. We see this in every human endeavor. Outstanding sportsmen spend all their time practicing. Their endurance is beyond imagination. The same is true of businessmen who build up
fortunes. What we usually see are their achievements, but once we go behind the scenes we will find that they have put in a lot of continual steady efforts. We all have read of great musicians, writers and inventors who have created or discovered breakthroughs in human achievement. Invariably they have said that they owe all their success to perseverance. As to college students, quite a big number of them have become successful language learners through perseverance, however, a certain group of them, just stop half way and their previous efforts turn out to be fruitless.
Of all the countless examples the saga of Colonel Saunders is perhaps one of the most outstanding. The 65-year-old man from Kentucky had a dream to start a chain of fried chicken restaurants all over the world. To realize his dream, he knew that he needed a restaurant owner to go into partnership with him to open the first restaurant and to fry chicken according to the secret recipe he had. Colonel Saunders had knocked on 1008 doors before he finally found his partner. It is doubtful whether many of us would have had the perseverance to knock even a hundred doors.
From the above discussion we can draw a conclusion that success comes to anyone who keeps working perseveringly and lack of perseverance can only result in frustration and failure.
Directions: for this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay entitled On Job Hopping by commenting on the phenomenon, “Some people think that it is important to stay in one job or career to become an expert, but more and more people are trying different jobs before settling down. ” You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.
Different people have different opinions about job-hopping. Some people like to change jobs frequently because they don’t know what they are really good at; while some people stick to one lifelong job for they believe changing jobs frequently will have negative effects on making progress in a specific field. As far as I am concerned, I think job-hopping has both advantages and disadvantages for the following reasons.
On the one hand, job-hopping can help those young people who just graduate from universities to find out what jobs they are really good at. They change jobs frequently because they don’t like this job or they just want to find a better job. Some people think changing jobs frequently can ignite their inspiration. Jerry, my friend, is one of the types changing his job from time to time. This month he works at the supermarket, next month he is doing business with others. Recently, he plans to run a shop online. I ask him why, he said that he wanted to find out what job he loves the most. And doing a job for the rest of his life is quite tedious. He doesn’t want to live in the regular life style.
On the other hand, some people are not so willing to change their jobs, especially most women. If one of them finds a job is steady, she possibly won’t change her job, even though the salary is not good enough. For them, changing jobs takes too much courage and time; it’s not so wise to change. Stability is the most important factor for them.
Whether to change jobs, it’s up to you. I think it both has advantages and disadvantages. If you
think the job you do right now is not good enough, you can seek for a better job; if you can’t take the risk of resign, you had better stay.
