应该禁止大学生点外卖吗
College students ’ preference for takeaway is far from new nowadays, considering the convenience and various choices it represents. At this point, some people state that ordering takeaways should be banned for many problems arise from it. However, in my opinion, the prohibition of takeaways is unnecessary and even harmful.
Firstly, the act of banning takeaways means setting further restriction to students’ rights, which may make them feel deprived. Students prefer to order takeaways mainly because they think the food is more delicious than what their canteens can provide. As a consequence, the students will not be satisfied if we do not allow them to choose what they want to eat. Furthermore, free to ordering enables students to enjoy a more flexible time schedule, with which they are able to focus on their subjects without considering the open or close time of the canteens too much. Thus, the students are more likely to recognize that the policy is lack of justification in the first place.
Secondly, the scare source of canteens should also be emphasized. The fact is that, the available canteens of a college can not serve the students all at once. Nevertheless, since eating at canteens is the only choice they can make, they have to rush to
one and bear the crowd and the noise. What is worse, some students even may not find seats. Since the canteens can’t make sure that everyone is able to get their meals at present, it ’s the wrong time to promote the prohibition of takeaways.
In fact, I do agree what the students are ordering is usually something unhealthy with extraordinarily high fat, sugar, salt and calories contents. But it does not mean we should ban that. The alternative policy is informing students the potential harm of takeaways and showing college ’s negative attitude towards this issue by, for example, organizinglectures.
In general, it’s not a good idea to banthe ordering of takeaways for the students ’ rights are deprived and the food and beverage resources in college are usually not sufficient. Instead, colleges can try to influence students’ behavior in other ways.
